For twenty years I lived on a creek with black swans. Given the frailty of our ecosystem, I often wonder how they landed in that beautiful, but non-indigenous habitat and survived. Every Spring, as they appeared in the creek, with one or several cygnets, their presence gave pause to wonder and hope. The mystery of it all is what fuels my paintings.
